DAY 1

Today, a busy day, a sad day with the death of a georgian luger named Nodar Kumaritashvili.
He was doing a test run early friday morning, it was his last turn in his final training run. While going aroung 90 miles per hour, he tilted his head forward, his last move. He lost control of his sled crashing into a wall. His body went airborne with his arms flailing at his sides, he crashed into an unpadded steel pole. It all lasted about 48.9 seconds, from start to crash. I send heartfelt condolences to his parents who might have watched on of the videos, and felt heart broken. All the best to them.

The mood is not as happy as it should but it is still a big moment for vancouver and Canada.

The opening ceeremony starting with fireworks, banging drums. And the games were officialy dedicated to Nodar Kumaritashvili.

A crowd of 60,000 people, are there. They begin by listening to "I believe".
They bring up 4 large totem poles and hear from the aboriginals. All the countries are now announced one by one. Beginning with Austria and ending with Canada.

Wayne Gretzky lites the torch, twice! What A beauty!!:P
